Blue Hills Ski Area is the closest ski area to the city of Boston, and is located on Great Blue Hill in Canton, Massachusetts. Great Blue Hill is the highest point in the Greater Boston Area, sitting at 635 ft above sea level, and is also home to the Blue Hill Observatory, the oldest Meteorological Observatory in North America. The ski area offers a variety of terrain in addition to great views of the Boston area. It also offers night skiing on most of its terrain and lessons for all age groups. You will find the base lodge and rental shop with easy access to the summit chairlift.
The ski area has been open since February 16, 1950, originally called the William F. Rogers Slopes, was serviced by a J-bar lift until 1962 when the summit double chair was installed. The ski area typically operates from December through late March, and relies mostly on snowmaking to maintain its seasonal snowpack.
